Quest for the Center

Quest

My Being seems to be on a never-ending quest for something…

…something that it seems to be searching going round and round, taking on different hues…

…all the while not realizing that what it seeks can be found within itself…

…right at the Center –

The Center of My Being.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Half-Light

Half-Light

This Rangoli was blessed with the most wonderful lighting of the evening half-light – I could never have got this effect even if I wanted to.

Well, God is the Ultimate Artist!

One Love…

As my eyes fell on the two peacocks in the Rangoli gazing lovingly at each other, I had my answer.

For a long time, I had been pondering over the question – not very intent on the answer, but the question remained in my mind nevertheless.

Why is there this unquenchable thirst, an all-encompassing pressing need for a companion in this world? People reach out for love, seek out their mates endlessly, again and again, despite innumerable discouragements and setbacks.

It is almost like they are drawn to their partner almost unknowingly, by some universal force…

Then it hit me! Yes, it’s the Universe – bringing the two together always.

Of course, didn’t God create everything in pairs? No wonder every living being in Nature is drawn to its mate in a love that is universal and unique at the same time…

One Love.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Harmony

Harmony
orig3

“Harmony: noun; An orderly or pleasing combination of elements in a whole: color harmony; the order and harmony of the universe”

The above definition of the word describes exactly what I feel every time I see the above picture.

For a long time now, I have been trying to figure out exactly why I am so affected, so drawn to the art of Rangoli, and why I can’t seem to have enough of looking at them…

I concluded that it must be symmetry that is inherent in almost every Rangoli that appeals to the aesthetic sense.

The theme for this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge has the perfect answer to my introspective query: Harmony

The colors, the lines and shapes (and the dots, if present) – all the elements blend in the most amazing way – in perfect harmony – to form a pleasing and consistent whole, to create beauty in a Rangoli.

The synonyms to Harmony are listed as: balance, symmetry, congruity, consonance, coordination, blending, correspondence, compatibility… is it any wonder that symmetry is there in the list?!

I would add another word to that list though: Beauty…
